Vista Washer Woman-photo Friday

Was so absorbed in taking this photo that not one but two nice officers pulled up to ask me what I was doing in the middle of Vista!

The washer lady was in the sun, and the background was green and in the shade. A little “Davidization” and here you have it. Worthy of the 2011 calendar?

Rockin’Jake at Jo’s Sunshine

Tuesday June 14th @ 8th.

No Cover, That’s right FREE

The Rockin’ Jake Band’s “Save The Clinic” tour kicks off June 12 in Denver, Colorado and continues through September. This all-star, funky, harmonica-led blues and zydeco band will be raising funds and awareness for the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic (NOMC) in seventeen states from coast to coast.

Since its founding in 1998, the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic has been an innovative, not-for-profit, occupational medicine and wellness partnership, offering affordable, comprehensive health care to the New Orleans community’s most precious resource: its musicians. The NOMC is a program of the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation (NOMAF). Collaborative health partners are LSU Healthcare Network, Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans, and St. Anna’s Mission to Musicians and Medical Mission.

The clinic is losing federal funds that cover over 90% of its operating costs. As a former patient of the clinic, and an ardent believer and supporter of the Clinic’s mission, Rockin’ Jake wants to get the word out about the loss of funding. His personal mission is to raise awareness of the Clinic and its needs, and help provide important healthcare services for his fellow musicians. Therefore, a portion of The Rockin’ Jake Band’s merchandise sales (Badmouth Hot Sauce, T-Shirts and CDs) from every show this summer will be donated to the NOMC, to help fellow musicians continue to receive care at the Clinic.

Based in New Orleans since 1990, Rockin’ Jake relocated briefly to Dallas, TX after being flooded out by Hurricane Katrina, and then settled in St. Louis, MO. Rockin’ Jake has been hailed by many as one of the premier harmonica players in the country.

As Rockin’ Jake and his band bring the flavors of New Orleans Blues and Zydeco coast to coast, come on out and support live music and help Save the Musicians’ Clinic! To make a direct donation to NOMC, go to www.savetheclinic.org

Art, Sun and 75 at the City Market!!!

Summer in the City!!!! A SUNNY Saturday sounds so good, I think we should celebrate with an early bird special at this weeks Boise City Market. Come see me at my regular spot right in front of the Brick Oven Beanery before 11:00am and anything in the booth is 20.% off.  I will also be digging out the “Bargian Bin” stuff with a whole winters worth of interesting inventory.

Spent the week prepping some new metal prints and hand printing and mounting a whole batch of new 11×14 prints mated and ready to place in a 16×20 frame. Come early and beat the crowds, save a little. A cuppa coffee would be nice too.

If you are on the Eagle side of the valley, I have a few works at the:

Cinder Wines a winner!

May 19th, 2010

Even if they don’t make Scotch. Melanie and Joe make great wine. Been set up at the Market next to them for a couple of years and will tell Boisee.com readers they have a passion for wine and wine making that is noble. Glad to see them rewarded for their hard work.

Next time your at the market stop by and see Joe. He’s the handsome guy in the booth next to mine!

If-be thankful

May 2nd, 2010

img_8921ellen-staceyIf your children are healthy, kiss them and be thankful.

If your friends support you, hug them and be thankful.

If the people around you chip in for what you believe, pat them on the back and be thankful.

If those you meet give to your causes, shake their hands and be thankful.

If strangers help, smile and be thankful.

Tonight my community of family, friends, acquaintances, and  strangers raised enough to fulfill  ”A Wish for Chris.” at the McClasky Benefit and I am deeply thankful to you all.
