Update w/pics BBS Picnic

July 21st, 2009

Needed this  to update the Facebook folks too.

bbs09-1In a hotly contested contest the Boise Blues Society members voted to send Lori B! and Danny Boy and Harpo to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Competition in January.   The Blues Picnic was a great success, we ate, drank, signed up some members, but most of all enjoyed some very good music. I’ll post pics soon.

We want to thank the Boise Blues Society and all the members who
voted for us Sunday. We will do our very best to represent Idaho
and the BBS Membership proudly. We also want to acknowledge the great job the Bodo Brothers did. I am personally so proud of those kids and look forward to watching them progress into a headliner. Hope to see all of you as we start the fundraising efforts.

Also, see below.  Looks like Jim Teeter has brought us another great Blues Band Monday night, July 20th, coming through Boise.  Hope you aren’t too tired from Sunday to keep the blues a’rollin!   We’ll have lotsa fun then too.

Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble (Sunset, LA) Curley Taylor was born and raised in Louisiana and has been around music all of his life. At the age of 16 Curley started playing drums in his father’s band, (Jude Taylor & His Burning Flames) which is deep in Louisiana Blues, Soul and Zydeco. By the age of 25, Curley had played drums for some of Louisiana’s finest legends including: CC Adcock, Steve Riley, John Hart, “Lil” Bob of the Lollipops, and his uncles, “Lil Buck” Senegal and Wayne “Blue” Burns. He traveled with CJ Chenier, also considered a great Louisiana legend. While traveling with Mr. Chenier, Curley found an interest in playing the accordion. After practicing and playing the accordion, Curley enjoyed it. He was told he “played the drums and the accordion with great emotion and natural feeling.”

What a Weekend-Reminds me of the old days.

July 9th, 2009

Better break out your dancing shoes and save up for a taxi this Saturday. It is time for a good old bar run.

1st stop, 9p- Lori B! and the Blue Diamonds at the Jo’s new Sunshine Lounge. This is the place to get your grove started, the drinks are good, the service is better and the music will be outta site. Next stop Grainey’s basement for a little disco with the full on $oul Purpose experience. Then  wobble over to Gilly’s in time to sing Piano man with Tauge and Faulkner.

As the kids used to say. . . Let’s drink!

Can’t handle the pace. . . Catch $ouls Purpose Friday. Repeat Saturday.

This bit of wit comes from Ms. Vivian, thanks. . .

 Coincidence?

Don’t know if this is just a sick coincidence but….

2007 - Chinese year of the Chicken - Bird Flu Pandemic devastates parts of Asia

2008 - Chinese year of the Horse - Equine Influenza decimates Australian racing

2009 - Chinese year of the Pig - Swine Flu Pandemic kills hundreds of pigs/humans around the globe.
It gets worse……..
Next year……

2010 - Chinese year of the Cock - what could possibly go wrong?
