Allison Wonderland is opening Ophidia Studio. Went by to install 4 works of Allison dancing. These black and white images where printed for this space and capture the power and grace of Ophedia. You can see one of them on the poster below.

I will also be at the Seventh Annual Juried Art Exhibit

Things are great in the world of David R Day Fine Art.

Two of my metal images have been juroried into the Art Source Gallery’s annual contest. The winners will be announced 1st Thursday July 2nd.

I will also be on Display at the Brick Oven Bistro on the Grove for at least the month on July AND I will have a small but powerful grouping of work at the new Ophidia studio by the VAC in Garden City.

Oh, and take a look at a one of a kind art piece, designed exclusively for the back bar at Jo’s new Sunshine Lounge.

The old Koi spot on 8th will soon be a restaurant “Osaka.” They old Milky will be an Indian theme eatery. Apparently the left Seattle for the ‘greener’ pastures of downtown Boise. Be interesting to see how that plan stacks up.

One of the greatest films ever, Kodak Kodachrome will be retired soon. 

Know for it’s rich colors and a slightly reddish tilt, Kodachrome was a staple for portrait shooters for 74 years.  Sad as I am to see it go, I haven’t even seen the little yellow box it came in for years. Guess I am not alone.

Promised and update on the Sunshine.

Been asked where it is a lot.

It is the bar in the Rodeway Inn, between the Freeway and St. Al’s. It opened as the Purple Jester and was a Disco Bar for a while. It quickly became a cool music bar and changed it’s name to the Sunshine. Lot’s of great local bands played, I remember TT Miller the most.

Who took it over?

Jo Fryberger, a former co-owner of the Blues Bouquet, and current owner of Jo’s Traveling bar.

Why is it better?

In about everyway possible. The old Sunshine Feed Store didn’t have much to offer. Jo’s Sunshine Lounge is already the place for live blues music. Only reopen a couple of weeks, the bar has featured the Insomniacs a fun road band and Short Notice with Cyndie Lee, Richard Soliz and Noble Atherton, plus others. Add in a general clean up, new staff (including yours truely) and your cookin’.

In General

If you enjoy live music, especially blues in an intimate setting, a good drink at a  fair price, a pleasant staff, and good friends. You will love Jo’ Sunshine Lounge.

Finally some good news.

One of my favorite places to eat was the State Court on, well State. It is  going to reopen soon. My daughter and used to go there on the way to skiing. Good times and a photo review soon.

NORTH END / BOISE, ID

Boise may sprawl a bit, but the Boise you want has a pretty small footprint, full of bungalow charm, desert canyon ruggedness, renovated warehouses, quirky misfits, and exiled liberals from the countryside. 8 am: Wake up with a run on the Ridge to Rivers Trail System, and get lost on the 130 miles of paths that connect to the North End street grid in half a dozen places. The BBS put on a very tasty blues show last night at Jo’s Sunshine. Oregon’s Insomniacs played the last show of a 30 month run.These road warriors have a very lively set off well written originals and  12 bar standards. If you see these guys on a bill catch it(they opened for John Nemeth now and then) Also, look for more Blues just off the freeway on Curtis.
