Sunshine to get new owner!

May 31st, 2009

Every one’s favorite is getting back into the bar business.

Favorite boss

Favorite owner

Favorite manager

Favorite coworker

Favorite Bar Caterer

OK I DID BURY THE “lead” Jo Fryberger, former owner of the BLUES Bouquet will take over the Sunshine on Curtis next to the freeway as of Thursday. No, it’s not a big ol blues bar, but it could be a very good little big bar. Boisee expects long time customers, employees and friends will find there way here and make this a very good place. More news soon.

Congratulations Jo, glad to have you back at what you do so well.

The Red Light Variety Show ALIVE-Get Your Freak ON!

May 27th, 2009

sideshowThe Red Light has run head on into a sideshow caravan!  Come witness the spectacular result of this catastrophe as the misfit family is transformed into various sideshow wonders and monstrosities! You may encounter a tattooed lady, a midget - or two, perhaps some beautiful hoochie coochie dancers (although they may cost a little extra…), a poor soul inflicted with hypertrychosis, the bearded lady, the incredible half girl half fish, mother nature’s rejects! freaks and geeks galore! And maybe more….

This Friday, 9pm at the Visual Arts Collective, 3638 Osage in Garden City, directly behind the woman of steel. Tickets are $10 and on sale now at the Record Exchange.

This is a dress up occasion! Get you freak on and bring/tell all your friends!

There are two rules to success.

1)Don’t tell all you know.

1/2 off the Statesman

May 17th, 2009

A very nice gentleman ask me if I wanted the Idaho Daily Statesman half off. . .

Told him if they cut in half again it will disappear.

While I am bashing the daily, does a full page ad still cost as much now that the paper the size of a half page?

Sometimes I wish I was still selling radio!

The Vibe-Glad you felt it!

May 16th, 2009

The 1st Vibe on Vista was a great success. Thanks to everyone who came by.  It was fun to get the old Art for Art folks back together. It was very cool to have a few more join us. Good traffic from the neighborhood, fantastic music from Spoondragon. It was a great start.

Did you miss it? We will be at the corner of Cassia Vista the third Friday of ever month all summer.

The Vibe-Can you feel it?

May 14th, 2009

It is almost time for the 1st Vibe at Vista Village.

Where?  Well, Vista Village. Just up from downtown on Vista!

When? This Friday the 15th, and ever third Friday all summer.

Who? Over 25 local artists, crafters, musicians, cooks and all around good folks.

What?  Selling the very best in local goodies?

Why? Mostly  because it’s fun! And to support local artists etc. Oh, and 5% of the3304_1151210701809_1273885482_397988_5025965_n profits go to Art Faire a local charity that helps kids be creative.

Boisee, needs to thank Vista Village (thanks Sis & Bro), and MELISSA NODZO!!!

OK, about 26 hours of music for these prices, is a great deal!  But, you ask, “what makes this EXPERIENCE any different from all the others?” The Experience Festival is a celebration like no other. It is a place where visitors, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and creative artists come together for a shared event. The air is full of conversation. Color, enticing sights, sounds and scents – all beckoning visitors to be, to share, and to enjoy. Our setting will connect you with the past, our “community village” will give you paths to explore, our environment will give you peace, our music will lighten your step, our vendors will enlighten you, our food will give you diversity, and our creative artist will set your spirit free. We invite you to become a part of this family event.

The head hippie (Jim) says, “Our mission is to create a celebration that brings out the creative expression in all of us. We believe that given the opportunities, motivation and environment, people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to share in an experience of nature, crafts, performing arts, music, history, workshops and unique adventures. We will welcome them with friendliness, and encourage them to share and communicate their talents with others.”

Friday night, May 15 will be 60’s Night … so find your old tie-dye and bell-bottom jeans and enjoy a trip through the musical past. We start off with the great sounds of Jimmy Bivens, then flow into the Cosmic Family Band, and the headliner is Trippin’ (a musical journey through the 60’s). This is the opening date on their 2009 Tour. If this wasn’t enough we end the evening with the Fire Kittens and Friends, with their new, original show.

Saturday, May 16, is a day of great craft booths, food, drink, healers, bounce house, many surprises, this is also rock and roll day with headliner Built To Spill, Chris Gutierrez, Bank, Polyphonic Pomegranite, Juntra, Finn Riggins, oh and don’t forget the belly dancers and the second show by the Fire Kittens.

Sunday, May 17, we complete the Festival with a day in the sun, with dancing and fine sounds of Blaze n’ Kelly, Low-Fi, the blues styling of the Quartentons, and with headliner Denae, the 17 year old singing sensation, who is making her first appearance in Boise since last fall when she played the Egyptian Theatre with Tommy Castro, Kenny Neal, Magic Dick (J. Geils Band) and Deanna Bogart. Following Denae is our closing ceremony for 2009.

We also welcome our new community partner Arts West Performance School who will provide information, puppet show, student art work and performers. Funds raised by this event help support the Blues In The School Program.
