Dad & Daughter First Thursday

August 31st, 2008

My daughter Elissa and I will be sharing the spotlight at City Grill this Thursday the 4th. Elissa will be making her first real appearance as a singer/songwriter. I will presenting a very exciting new line of images. Both the kid and I are excited to get honest reactions to our work.

More about Elissa performance.
Elissa songs come from her heart, and she sings with a light yet powerful sound that matches her stories. She plays solo with only her guitar. Nothing fancy just to get in the way of her message.

About the Metal Series.
The Metal Series

Over the years, David Day of American Photo Source has striven to stay on the edge when it comes to imaging and presenting his work. The Metal Series is a major step forward in this journey.

The Metal Series uses a painstaking process to place David’s photography directly on metal sheets. A variety of, sheet, stainless, and aluminum up to 40 inches wide are used. These sheets are often taken from from the recycle bin, each piece has a unique patina and look. Making every image distinctly different.

Sold in stickily limited editions, this art will almost certainly become collectable and increasingly valuable.

Please come by and see us.

Gusto? -Not Gonzo!-update

August 28th, 2008

Gonzo!
Boisee.com reader Don O found locked doors last night. Will post his full report soon as soon as I get to a real computer.

Here is the new  info on Gusto. Thanks to Ryan for the quick update comment

From Ryan Steinbroner’s comment. . .

Gusto is part of Mack and Charlie’s and no it is not Gonzo… the Gusto side of the bar is only open on Friday and Saturday or for private parties.  Sadly, we had to scrap our Jazz night on Wednesday nights.  We had a great band, and a small loyal following but the bottom line wasn’t working.  For now we still have live DJ’s on the weekends.

MotorFlower Tour tune up pics

August 27th, 2008

Caught the Motor Flower guys before they left to the Wiskey a Go Go. It was wonderful to see such a solid crowd show on such short notice.

Been working my new camera to the limits on low light photography. Here are a few captures from Monday night.

Motoflower tour-begins now!

August 25th, 2008

From Nathan Jay Moody

Hey everyone,

There has been a slight change in our tour plans and we are leaving one
day later.  So……. we will be doing a special engagement at the REEF
tonight at 9:00 to start our tour.  FREE!!!!! Come down and check out
our show and tell some friends so we can get some people through the
door.  We were bummed that we werent going to be playing a Boise show
and happy that we are now.  It will be fun considering we dont have
time to promote, it will just be the people getting this message.  Then
its on to Big Sur and eventually the Whiskey - A - Go - Go in Hollywood
this week.

What? Where?How far?

From Anne Garber

John Nemeth

August 24th, 2008

For those of us lucky enough to have watched John Nemeth grow from the “fat” yet powerful teenager with a jones for the blues to the now international blues star. It has been a great time so far.

Seeing and spending a few moments with John at the “pignic”(thanks Corner Clubers) reminded us of nights going back to the Waterfront. John tells Boisee.com that one of his very 1st paying gigs was at a early BBS Picnic, and he loved the old jam sessions at the IOF hall. John has always worked hard to play well. It shows in his singing, but shines in his vocals. His success is hard earned and is an inspiration. Here a couple of pics.

Bar For Sale

August 21st, 2008

$750,000.oo will get you a bar in downtown Boise. Full liquor license included, but don’t think it includes the Real Estate. Is there a bar worth that much without the building?

Let the guessing game begin.

November 1st?

August 18th, 2008

From Craigslist!

Active Liquor License for sale. Available November 1, 2008. Price not negotiable. Serious buyers only.

Wonder who is losing their License? I also wonder why the price is so high.  Been a bunch of seasoned licenses at $150,000 of late.

Hope this isn’t the Bouquets, but it would explain the closed doors. Could be a while before the new owner finds and transfers a license.

Bouquet-update and good news

August 16th, 2008

Here is what I think I know about the “new” Bouquet. The info is from a couple of reliable sources, but I don’t have any direct confirmation. Guess that puts it into the rumor category, however I’m pretty sure this is the scoop!

The new owner is looking to return the bar to it’s rightful place as a historic fun spot. Music of a more adult style is on tap. Blues and Jazz from the “Blues Bouquet”  era with more contemporary bands from “Barrow/bb b Bucket” times. How fun would a Hi-Tops reunion have been on that stage!

Tyson, is working on cleaning up and returning the bar to an more relevant decor. A decor that will  showcase the fantastic Brunswick back bar.

Sounds like there may be some delay in the hoop jumping required to move the liquor license. That said, we should see the green paper come down and those big beautiful doors swinging open soon!

Boisee.com is betting this owner is wise enough to have more than two brands of scotch!!!!!

Satchel’s-Yep, more bad news!

August 15th, 2008

The real estate kids tell Boisee.com that one of Boise’s coolest places to watch a movie, or hear music on the patio will close next week.

So anybody got any good news>>>> this isn’t much fun!

Sorry about the now corrected misspelling!

The price on the pump? 26.9!

No wineing tonight

August 14th, 2008

Kinda hard to get a great glass of wine around these parts!

8th Street Wine Co

August 13th, 2008

A very reliable source tells Boisee.com. that the Wine co. has closed.

I’ll see if I can dig up more details.

BTW the Bouquet now has it’s windows covered.

Juke Joint Duo at Gillys

You don’t want to miss this group:

They’ll be at Pengilly’s tonight,(Wednesday) taking up part of Jeremiah Jame’s set.

Hi-Tops Reunion

August 12th, 2008

Remember those nights at the Bouquet, the floor bouncing, drinks flowing, and dancing, hot sweaty dancing?

Now move forward say-15 years, maybe 20. That’s what went on at the VAC Monday night. Heard Saturday was even crazier. Us old folks can still shake, if the music is good enough. Aging Hipsters hanging on to cool!

Check this line up! Sandow, Curtis, Craig, and Lafenberger!
Also in the mix, JD Biseline, and Steve Fulton. All Stars indeed.
Gotta thanks Steve Fulton for help with the tixs.
