Bogus Basin

December 28th, 2006

It was one of those near perfect days. bogus tree-web.jpgSunshine, fresh fluffy snow and my daughter to ski with. The trees were draped in a dramatic crust of Hoarfrost. Some trees even had movie set perfect ice sickles glistening in the afternoon sunshine. The wide vistas of back country Idaho amaze if you looked north. Look south and see the stark contrast of the chaos of the Treasure Valley.

Bogus Basin has grown into a fantastic resort. With 7 lifts, two lodges. (Why does JR need another thing named after him?) Yurts, halfpipes, tube hills, and a nordic center. Bogus is no Sun Valley, but bottom line, there are few cities as grand as ours that can boost such a wonderful recreational facility so close.

Actually check out the “Ski Area Citizens Alliance” http://www.skiareacitizens.com, they just published this years “Ski Area environmental Report Card”. They are a group of environmentally minded skiers from Colorado. They just gave Bogus an A for environmental management and placed it in the 10 best ski resorts in the West because of this. Right under our noses Bogus is turning green under the white. World Famous Sun Valley received a “D” along with Brundage. We have more reason to be proud of our little hometown resort. Considerning the environmentally destructive mindset of our State and Regional politicians it’s great to have something to hang our hat on locally. Nice pictures, makes me think I need to take my daughter skiing. Thanks!

Kirckster, go ahead and ski with your daughter, just don’t hire her.

    Shapeshifter,
No worries, she tells me on a regular basis she won’t work in our business. Guess she’s safe from my evil ways.
