The first real festival of the summer is coming up.
Head Hippie Jim Teeter and his crew have just about got the I’s crossed and the T’s dotted. The same great food, fun, and frivolity that have made Eagle island a great kick off to the summer will prevail again this year. Mark it down-Friday, Saturday and Sunday. May 19-21.

There may never be a bar upstairs in the old Mode building again. After several tries, the Portland branch of B W has been quietly selling off the equipment and fixtures. Noticed today that the sign is off of the buildings outside.

If you liked his music-you will love his guitar.
Really, I am not making this up. 80’s B movie action star, Steven Seagal is Kung Fu-ing the blues.
The Big Easy has him booked for May 25th. In the radio ad he is chopping away at “Before you Accuse Me.â€
Why do fading stars have to butcher the Blues? Should be country, even Seagal couldn’t make it sound worse!

Gotta’ love it. The corner of 8th and Bannock will soon have a Mongolian Grille and bar.

Another rumor. The Burger and Brew on Fairview has new owners and is going to be an “upscale” biker bar. Sounds OK, just don’t change the finger steaks>>>

Finally a decent rumor.
The long under utilized restaurant in the State House Inn is rumored to be the location of a second Chandler’s from Sun Valley. In the heart of downtown Boise, this could be a winner.

It was a blues road trip. The Boise Blues Society Blues in the Schools loaded up and headed out of town to Idaho City. Teacher Warren Barnes had his Idaho City High students prepared for a little blues.
Ken started off with a little boogie woogie, Richard Soliz added his classic Texas guitar, Pinto’s own bassest Greg handled the back beat with the help of Gary on the congas. add the easy drum style of student Steve and our merry band was in the groove. After a brief history lesson the kids took turns playing, clapping and digging the blues.
Ken lead the Idaho City kids on a musical journey. Moving from traditional blues up to and including a more rock based style. .
The best part? Watching a ring of kids playing and smiling to the blues after class
Next stop back to my old stompin’ grounds. Borah High and Mr. Sullivans jazz band.

This is another sad one. Local drummer Pete Wadams has been hurt in a car crash. Although I do not know Pete I can tell you he is well loved. A benefit has been organized by his friends. Take a look at the website they have put together, gotta warn you it will tug at your heart. There is a link to send a donation on the page.

Was wandering aimlessly on the old internet tonight where I came across a music recommendation site. The first recommendation!!!! Boise’s own Built to Spill. The track was Conventional Wisdom from You in Reverse Doug Martsch has a winner here. His song writing is a prefect match to the mellow quality of his voice.
Buy a copy at the record exchange or . . .
Or CD Universe. http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/7042173/a/You+In+Reverse.htm
BTW “You in Reverse” is in the top 10 in sales at CD Universe.
