Been taking some heat in the comment section of late. I love it! What started as a blog for a small group of friends and coworkers has become something more. Last month over 8000 people wandered by. Wow and thanks.
As for the comments, well. Boisee.com is what it is. See notice to readers.
Boisee.com is my opinion, my likes, and dislikes. I write about what I know. Someone recently accused me of “journalism.” I assured him that any journalism found here was entirely by mistake. Integrity hopefully-real news-not so much.
Sometimes I will post a rumor and label it as such. Yes, now and then I am wrong. Mostly I get it close. If you disagree, or I get it wrong-your welcome to come on in make a comment and say so.
The real estate gurus are reporting that a tenant for a big “double” bar is looking in downtown Boise for a location.
What is a double bar? It is a clasic idea, you put one type of music and vibe in one end. A differnt style in the other. So country up front, live rock, or a DJ in back. Done right it can appeal to at least two types of customers, the nightlifers like only having to pay one cover.
The original Shorty’s started like this, go back further and you have the Rockin’ Rodeo across from BSU.
It can work.
Wouldn’t it be very cool to see downtown be a Mecca of great music and fun times.
If this was a real news site, you would have to call this BREAKING NEWS. Insiders are telling us that the old Funny Bone is going to be remodeled into a good old fun time bar. Think the Bouquet back when it had Blues, or Pengillys back when it had smoke.
If you drink in any of the places you read about in Boisee.com you will find familiar faces behind the bar. We are also told that the room will feature live music and local art! All I need is $4.00 Red Label’s and I’m there.
More soon.
If you combine DK and Phred’s answers you have a winner. So I will give them both a print. This is an image of the Koenig vodka distiller. It was custom designed to make alcohol out of Idaho Russet potatoes.
The vodka created has a unique and sweeter taste than the usual corn based vodkas.

Recieved this e-mail this morning, thought I would share. Wayne is one of the cool guys. To bad he got out of town before my second dance lession. Here is his letter:

Thank you Mister Day. Just want you to know that Boisee is my connection to Boise. Things are great here is Florida, my mother ’s doing great, during the day I work at Ronsonet Buick, GMC ( my classmate is the owner) and it allows me to play with A-list national and international smooth jazz artist such as Matt Marshak, U-nam and Jeff Kashiwa. John Nemeth played the Bradfordville Blues Club near Tallahassee Florida last year I surprised him and he introduced me to the audiece, we hung out and had a good time.
Thank you for your site I like it a lot , I get to see my old friends in a place were I spent 14 yrs of my life playing music and developing relationships. I called Paul and he is recovering daily. Thanks again.

Found this on e-bay. I’m thinking this is the Fairveiw location across from Pojo’s, however it may be State. Love the Keystone style- never did enjoy the pizza.

The Market starts on Saturday. Greg and I will be there with lots of new stuff. Looks like good weather early.

Serious inquiries only. Liquor License for sale in Boise.
I didn’t think a Boisee.com story was a “serious inquiry.”
Gotta admit this one surprises Boisee. Frankly we have heard the hints and rumors and could not belieive them!
The Milky Way is closing as of this Saturday. Bummer!
From their start in the basement of the Carrols building, Milky Way has always been one of our favorites.
Expect to see some of the staff at the Bonefish.
That means powerhouse bartendter Kevin Farney is “on the beach” so the Martini Mix-Off is wide open.

Forbes magazine has Boise in many of it’s top ten lists. Last week it was terrorists, before that we were “lustful” Now we have good water. . .
Boise ranked in the top five for lowest levels of lead in its drinking water. But the “City of Trees” had higher levels of haloacetic acid, bacteria and turbidity
Enought already.
With the Torch and the Spearmint Rhino closed. Were are all the one dollar bills hanging out. Not to mention the dancers and their clientele.

Take a group of Boise’s most entertaining and accomplished musicians, say like Steve Fulton of Hoi Polloi fame. Now add the new kid Nathan Jay. That’s what you get with Motorflower. Their CD release is tonight at the new Visual Arts Collective.
Let’s all go.

The Morning paper is reporting that they Bouquet at will not become the Bucket. Also it won’t be a big surprise to anyone that has been in the basement. There will not be a Speakeasy below. Boisee is thinkin’ that access would have almost certainly required an ADA sized elevator. Not the spiral staircase which currently gets you to the dungeon!
Thanks to Buddha John for being the last newspaper reader.
The bar next to Mac & Charlie’s is going to move toward Jazz. Changing their targeting statement to “Gusto’s A Boise Jazz Venue.”
Seems an odd fit for the sister bar of M&C’s but you gotta love anyone downtown doing LIVE music.

BTW when I walked by after the Mike Zito show last night at maybe 12:30. They bar was blasting a very heavy hip hop beat. No jazz!!

Sad news, one of downtowns best is gone. . . former Piper Pub manager Tim Kendall posted this news. . .
Not sure what the best way to get a hold of you, hope this works. Kathy Kendall, A bartender during the time the Piper Pub was a very special place passed away March 16th. She won over all of the regulars, at that time, and was determined to make everyone have fun. I know quite a few people who read this daily either worked or knew Kathy. Your site is great and is fun to read. She did pour you a few! The cause of her death was due to a very wicked infection in her blood that caused, among other things, complete renal failure. There will be a memorial web site - www.kathykendall.net set up in the next few days. Thanks!
Tim
Tim was kind enought to send along these wonderful pictures of Kathy.
Thanks Tim, our thoughts are with you.
