King of the Road”
For as long as I can remember I have heard that Roger Miller wrote “King of the Road” In Garden City Motel. Anybody else heard of this? Alternatives rumors include, Hotel Boise, and the Idanha. Don’t think there was ever a time when Four bits would buy an eight by twelve four-bit room- Downtown.
Asked my mom and she said the Idanha is what she always thought it was…..

I’ve always heard it was the Idanha, The 2bit room line was susposed to have to do with the old sign on that side of the old Manitu

Actually from what I hear, it was written in a room in the Desert Inn in Nampa. He was in town as one of the entertainers for the Snake River Stampede. He went for a walk and saw the Minor’s RV sign that says “Trailers For Sale or Rent” and that gave him the start of his song.
