That will be 10 cents please

The media is always predicting the worst!zero.-web.jpg
Just last week, many of the well informed “pundits” predicted a “ huge” rise in gas prices due to the break in the Alaskan pipeline. What happened? Filled my tank today, no the price did not rise 10 cents per. It was down a cent!

You’re setting up your straw man, the-media-said argument again. First, of course, you fail to cite the published gas-rise prediction you are referring to, and second, you fail to test the conditions around which your so-called pundit made the prediction. Was a predicted gas rise instantaneous and ubiquitous, or based on a continued pipeline closure and subject to additional and largely localized market conditions? It didn’t really seem that imminent in the nuanced news coverage that I read, but perhaps your pundits are shriller than mine. (You put “huge” both in quotes and in bold, but where did that word come from? What legitimate reporter used it?) Is it possible that gas prices have risen on aggregate, but not at your particular pump? We have only your assertion to go on.

    C’mon, show the rigor.

Oh, Rick you take this so seriuosly. The media pundit was my son. I bet the kid a dime that we(he and I) would not see a “huge.” rise in prices. We settled on 10 cents per as the over/under. He owes me ten cents. That’s the whole deal.

Gas is up six cents on average since our discussion a week ago.

Ten cents? No… but down a penny it ain’t.

    Dave
Predictions of an price increase were made prior to BP(actually stands for Beyond Petroleum - the “Green” oil company) generously deciding to only close half the pipeline they have neglected for the last fifteen years. Oh yes, and the fact that peace has broken out in the Middle East this week.
